“The Question of Governance”
by
Vincent Michelangelo c2008: VincentMB

The founding fathers of America created a precedent for democracy wherein a balance of powers might keep
the people safe from unjust tyranny. As James Madison expressed, “The essence of government is power, and
power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.” These exceptional thinkers were mostly
rich, white men whose intentions were noble; however, their affiliations and alliances often revealed a hidden agenda.
Generations of wealthy families, often connected to royal ties in Britain, France and Spain had been exploring the
New World since the late 1400’s establishing industries financed through opium drug smuggling, widespread slave
trading, and by the exchange of other valuable commodities. In his book Secret Societies of America’s Elite,
Steven Sora re-examines history and the key players involved… “From the time of the Crusades to the twenty-first
century, a handful of families have controlled the course of world events and have built their own status and wealth
through collective effort and intermarriage.”

Although present day politics in America, on both the left and the right, expound on democratic principles
and the needs of the people, in reality the voice of the majority is dwarfed by the power of the corporate elites
and family dynasties. It brings forth the question of governance in a world mired in dictatorships, monarchies,
communist regimes and democracies fueled by capitalism and greed. If one is to embrace the basic rights of
human beings across the world, then it is imperative to examine the “motive” of rulers, the “business dealings”
of countries, and the economic systems that are running this world. As founding father John Adams wrote…
“The only maxim of a free government ought to be to trust man living with power to endanger the public liberty.”

This more in depth study of history is knocking on the doors of an awakening consciousness as people
discover more of the truth. In his underground bestseller Rule By Secrecy, author Jim Marrs goes further back
into the annals of historical time connecting front organizations like the Trilateral Commission, the Council on
Foreign Relations, and the Bilderbergs with the occult aspects of Freemasonary, the mysteries of the great
pyramids, and the supposed bloodline of Jesus the Christ. Marrs introduces his research appropriately…
“This book deals with the secrets of government, hidden history, and clandestine religion; the secrets of
wealth, power, and control; the secrets rearely recorded in the history books and never mentioned in the
mass media.”

If we as a people are going to be an example of a democratic Republic utilizing just and sound principles,
then we must be willing to stave off the shackles of corporate piracy, the enormous debts of war mongers and
the blatant disregard for human life that is apparent in our prison system, on our streets and in our very own
homes. If we are to be free, then we must be willing to challenge those forces that seek to control, manipulate
and suppress the rights of others because those are rights we all share equally. In the 1996 book Treason:
The New World Order, the quote is applicable:

“Stopping the corporate traitors from establishing a world dictatorship is the foremost issue of
our time. Many of the concerns people have today from labor rights, to ending abortions, to
having a balanced budget however important these issues are will be irrelevant if we live in a
police state. Many conflicts in our society have been deliberately created to divert people’s
attention so the corporate elite can quietly and gradually shift this Republic into a world dictatorship.
However, with many people awakening to these plans and a freer flow of information, I believe the
one world government dictatorship will never occur. In the end, the new world order crowd will
join Hitler’s Third Reich in the ash heap of history.”

After a century of the Bush family dynasty intermingled with big business, world politics, secret organizations,
clandestine operations, personal vendettas and religious leanings, we as a people are being falsely represented
by an administration that has its own global agenda for the twenty-first century. It is an agenda steeped in deceit,
half-truths, outright lies and a not-so-secret plan to govern the world or at the very least the resources that fuel
the world. It is obvious that no one can realistically govern all the people in all the countries of the world, but
what can and does occur are situations of economic control backed by a military force that suppresses dissent
and often leaves a bloody trail of casualties. Kevin Phillips elaborates in his 2004 book American Dynasty:
Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush:

“Unfortunately, in examining two Bush presidencies and the family’s four-generation pursuit
of national prominence and power—and in doing so through a lens that highlighted elite associations,
dynastic ambitions, and recurring financial and business practices—I found greater dismay and
disillusionment than I had imagined. The result is an unusual and unflattering portrait of a great family
(great in power, not morality) that has built a base over the course of the twentieth century in the
back corridors of the new military-industrial complex and in close association with the growing
intelligence and national security establishments.”

We have endured twelve years with a Bush as president and another eight years with Bush Sr. as Vice-President
and the pull behind the Reagan administration. As we approach the 2008 elections, the Republicans have focused
on Arizona Senator John McCain, who will no doubt stay on track with the global agenda and keep the war
mongers in the black. On the left side of the same coin, Hillary Clinton cannot seem to slow down the
Barack Obama political train; some say they should team up together. Personally, I feel that Texas Republican
Ron Paul is in a class by himself representing a Constitutional platform and truly speaking on behalf of the people.
Dennis Kucinich bowed out months ago and successfully won his seat in Congress as did Ron Paul; Gravel has
joined up with the Libertarian party and Ralph Nadar is still fronting the Green party. There are a few voices
representing the people, however small they may seem amidst the two-party charade. I will keep my opinion
reserved as to who I think the next president will be, but I highly doubt anyone will be too surprised.

Even in the most dire circumstances the voice of the people can be heard through individuals who are willing
to take a stand for freedom and justice. In the South African world of apartheid, Steven Biko and many others
became “casualties” in a war against a white majority whose hatred and treatment of the “natives” was extreme.
During the struggles in Central America many courageous people took a stand against corrupt regimes that
were backed by U.S. monies; Reagan called the Contras “freedom fighters” when in reality they were death
squads. In May of 1981, Ecuador’s leader Jaime Roldos was killed in a plane crash; two months later
Panama’s leader, Omar Torrijos suffered a similar fate. Both these Central American leaders were fighting
for the best interests of their people; both of these “accidents” were allegedly CIA-backed assassinations.
In John Perkins’ autobiographical book entitled Confessions of an Economic Hitman, he shares detailed
information about his role that began in the early 1970’s…

“Economic hit men (EHMs) are highly paid professionals who cheat countries around the globe
out of trillions dollars. They funnel money from the World Bank, the U.S. Agency for International
Development (USAID), and other foreign “aid” organizations into the coffer of huge corporations
and the pockets of a few wealthy families who control the planet’s natural resources. Their tools
include fraudulent financial reports, rigged elections, payoffs, extortion, sex, and murder. They play
a game as old as empire, but that has taken on new and terrifying dimensions during this time of
globalization… I should know; I was an EHM.”

I highly recommend Perkins’ book for it offers a perspective that has been there and done that; he has
written a sequel as well. After twenty years in the “EHM business,” Perkins made a personal transformation
and has come full circle with a new vision. Now he takes people to places where oil companies have raped
and ravaged pristine forests, projects that he helped set up, and is fighting alongside indeginous people to
stop these unjust practices. It is an honorable act and shows how people can change. Perkins’ website is

Since 9-11 the decline of the U.S. into a pseudo-police state is appalling. The proposed “war on terror”
has placed civil liberties at risk, while increasing the military-industrial-national-security complex. The U.S.
military budget is a half trillion dollars, and U.S. deficits are over nine trillion. Our leaders have been mired
in war games propagating terror through illegal arms dealings, black operations, and a several multi-billion
dollar contracts to “select” corporations. The United States as a whole has been hijacked by corporate piracy
and treasonous activities that appear to have no boundaries and are above the law. Not to mention, the war
in Iraq is in its fifth year with no clear end in sight; and the war mongers are pushing toward Iran as well. The
two following quotes are from past presidents who faced adversity during their tenures:

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a
theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. The world
in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its
scientists, and the hopes of its children.”
President Eisenhower, 1953 speech

“The money power preys upon the nation in times of peace and conspires against it in times of
adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than
bureaucracy. It denounces, as public enemies, all who question its methods or throw light upon
its crimes.”
President Abraham Lincoln

It will be a bright day for humanity when war falls out of fashion and the consciousness of the people rises
above the global machinations of a small, elite minority. A perpetual war on terror is not enough; they want
us to fear space invasions, to resist anarchy and revolution, to endure economic depressions, and to be
suspicious of the person living next door. Fear is the name of their game combined with a corrupt judicial
system, a brainwashed police force, and big money in too many of the wrong places; we the people have
to rise above their “divide and conquer” tactics and unite ourselves beyond our petty differences. The sacred
dream for the Americas is a vision much larger than any new world order or global agenda; it is a vision for
the heart of humanity and it is carried within the consciousness of each individual. This vision will grow
generation upon generation as mankind learns the lessons from war, so we can graduate to a world of
harmony and peaceful relations.

I am inspired through my research to share a few more quotes to close this essay…

“The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on occasion that I wish it to be always
kept alive… What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned time to time
that its people preserve the spirit of resistance.”
Thomas Jefferson

“There will never be a free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual
as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and
treats him accordingly… Government is best which governs least.”
Henry David Thoreau

“I believe enough people will awaken in time to prevent the new world order police state, and that
we as a people can continue moving closer to God’s love and grace. The human race has today
reached a critical turning point. We as a people will soon undergo great advancement in our
spiritual evolution, or there will be a sharp collapse in consciousness. I pray that God’s grace
will continue to shine on our country and the vision of freedom and morality that the Founding Fathers
so sacrificed for will once again be restored to America. What is ultimately at stake here is
whether America, and indeed the entire planet, will continue under a hierarchical society,
where the few rule the many, or we can exist under Divine Law in a truly democratic Republic
where we are all equal before God.”
